  • Under the Gun Review: He Has Friends

He Has Friends is a comedy album that has it all: sharp humor, endearing moments (for which I will direct you to track 5, “Niece Story”), personality, and a healthy amount of public mocking. I always enjoy watching a particular comedian grow, and Fisch’s latest is a culmination of years of hard work, resulting in a tight, concise, and, well, hilarious finished product. He has certainly found his focus and rhythm in his new album, and will be a name to watch on the national scene in the coming future.

Among the many things Jon Fisch’s audience can expect on Thursday night—the opening night of the Hoboken Comedy Festival—making fun of Jersey was not one of it.

NEW YORK POST’S 150 BEST JESTS – “Hugh Hefner got engaged to a 24-year-old. He’s 84. That’s 60 years — an entire old person in between them. It gives me hope, though, because I’m single. I want to get married — maybe I haven’t met the right girl because she hasn’t been born yet.” – Jon Fisch

Newton native Jon Fisch doesn’t have any comic gimmicks. No props, no politics, no nerdy stereotypes. What you get with Fisch is just flat-out funny. Great writing, an easy sense of himself onstage, and the ability to walk into any comedy club and make people laugh, sometimes til it hurts. It’s what got him into the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, on Comedy Central, and Last Comic Standing.
